Sports Medicine

Dr. Vodon’s Sport’s Medicine career began in 1975 when she created the first women’s athletic training facility a California State University, Los Angeles. During this time she accumulated over 3000 hours of student training under the instruction of the Head Men’s Trainer, Roger Dennis to attain National Certification with the NATA (National Athletic Trainer Association.) The following year she was asked by the UCLA coaching staff to apply to the UCLA Women’s Athletic Department, for the head trainer position. Upon receiving this challenging job, during her two years of service with the Bruins, Dr. Vodon assisted ten UCLA women’s athletic teams to NCAA championship titles including the Women’s Basketball Team who won the NCAA National Championship Title for the first and last time in Bruin history.

Her success with the overall performance of the UCLA teams was attained with a comprehensive approach to training that included: Nutritional whole food programming, circuit endurance weight training and chiropractic therapies. The Athletic Training Profession, at this time for other colleges and pro teams did not consider nutrition and chiropractic as part of their working protocol or even the slightest importance. Vodon announced in the summer of 1978 that this would be her last year as the UCLA athletic trainer, as she wanted return to a postgraduate school to get her doctorate in Chiropractic.

With her primary interest and love being track and field,  Dr. Vodon was the personal physician and performance specialist to world record holders and Olympic gold medalists, such as Evelyn Ashford, Gail Devers, Jackie Joyner Kersey, John Drummond, John Smith, Dwight Stones, Sandra Farmer-Patrick, Sandra Richards , Mike Conley, A.J.
